An Insight into Merino Wool

Merino wool has been in the spotlight a lot lately. From being used to make clothing for astronauts to being utilized as a material for making clothes to exercise in, it is one of the most versatile fabrics on the planet. You may already have a collection of merino wool garments in your wardrobe but you may not know much about this type of wool.

For starters, the merino sheep is one of the most ancient breeds of sheep and also one of the toughest. In the summer months, their light, thin coat keeps them cool in high temperatures and during the winter months they grow a new layer of extra wool over the existing coat which then protects against the cold.
